Personal Kel'Thuzad Build (updated notes)

Note: Kel'Thuzad was the first Hero I posted a build for when I joined the website, I'm just posting an updated guide for him.

The number one objective when playing Kel'Thuzad (KTZ) is to complete your trait quest as soon as possible. Do this by landing Chains of Kel'Thuzad and the center of Frost Nova. You should be able to complete your trait quest by at least Level 13. The most stacks you can gain from one combo is 4.

KTZ has excellent talent diversity by the way (except Frost Blast).
Barbed Chains
Increase Chains of Kel'Thuzad damage by 125%. After gaining 30 Blight, Chains of Kel'Thuzad reduces the armor of pulled Heroes by 10 for 4 seconds
The Plaguelands is great at providing more DPS to the Immortal on BoE. This becomes exponentially more effective when you pick The Damned Return at Level 20.
Blighted Frost is a great talent to improve your own waveclear or if you are facing a team with many squishies and you are able to successfully perform your combo on two squishies. The Root duration increase once you finish your trait quest is also nifty when you consider picking Hungering Cold at Level 16 because you will have a larger window to deal bonus damage to the Rooted target.
Barbed Chains is only good at against meaty targets because they will lose Armor when being pulled by the ability.
Phylactery of Kel'Thuzad
Quest: Collect 12 Regeneration Globes to charge Kel'Thuzad's Phylactery. REWARD: Kel'Thuzad's Phylactery can be activated while dead to immediately respawn at the Hall of Storms, but must be charged again. PASSIVE: Kel'Thuzad heals for 10% of all Spell Damage dealt while the Phylactery is charged
Strip Shields is great versus a team with many Shields (Zarya, Tassadar, Fenix, Artanis, Kerrigan, Johanna, Tyrael, etc.).
Phylactery of Kel'Thuzad gives KTZ much-welcomed self-sustain and an instant revive once fully charged. I would consider this talent to be the default pick.
Armor of the Archlich is amazing against teams with many Basic Attackers who constantly threaten you (Tracer, Illidan, Thrall, etc.).
Chilling Touch
Every 8 seconds, Kel'Thuzad's basic attacks hit nearby enemies. Deals Spell damage instead of Physical, and slows by 30% for 2 seconds.
I only consider Chilling Touch to be worth picking up. It also gives you the ability to clear creep waves with ease. Use Frost Nova in the middle of the creep wave and then Basic Attack the mage minion.
Shadow Fissure
Create a fissure anywhere on the Battleground that explodes after 1.5 seconds, dealing 320 damage to enemy Heroes in its area. Damaging an enemy Hero with Shadow Fissure resets its cooldown.
Don't even ask me if Frost Blast is viable at all.
Pulling at least one Hero with Chains of Kel'Thuzad reduces its cooldown by 5 seconds
I don't find the others talents able to compete with the utility Chain-Link provides.
Chain-Link is very powerful in terms of being able to conserve your Mana and lowering the cooldown on Chains of Kel'Thuzad in order to give you more opportunities to perform your combo or to stack your trait quest faster.
Power of Icecrown
Stunning, Rooting or Slowing a hero grants 6% Spell Power for 10 seconds, stacking up to 5 times.
Situational talent tier:
Arcane Echoes if you built KTZ to be a heavy sustained damage dealer (Q build, aka budget Gul'dan).
Hungering Cold synergizes well with KTZ's kit. It's pretty much the default talent pick on this tier.
Power of Icecrown is my go-to simply because your DPS will skyrocket to astronomical levels. Why do I pick this? Hungering Cold only provides a flat damage bonus when you damage Rooted enemy Heroes. Power of Icecrown increases the Spell power of all your abilities.
Shifting Malice
Activate to Dash Forward, dealing 251(at 21) damage to enemies in the path. Takedowns reset the Cooldown of Shifting Malice.
Might of the Scourge if the enemy team features very immobile Heroes (mainly Sgt. Hammer when in Siege Mode) or your team features a ton of cc.
Shifting Malice is great if you find yourself being chased by pesky assassins all day. It's also a great snowballing ability if it is reset often.
The Damned Return is what you must pick if you go Q build. This ability alone increases your siege damage by a lot. The shade also benefits from all other Q talents.
