Beginner Uther

Uther is a straightforward Melee Support hero. He has great single-target healing and can supplement your frontline. Uther is a great hero to practice your mana-management, you will find yourself low on mana often in the early game. So make sure to get the most out of your two healing abilities and focuse on saving people rather than topping someone off. Devotion supplements that playstyle by giving the targets of your heal armor.

Holy Light is your single-target heal. As mentioned above use it mainly to keep people from immediate death. Its cooldown and mana-costs are very high.

You should consider Holy Radiance as your main source of healing, it has lower mana-cost than Holy Light and can heal more than one target at once. Always try to hit several allies with it.

Hammer of Justice can be used aggressively or as a defense when you find yourself in trouble. You will find it very useful.
1
Wave of Light
Quest: Damage or heal Heroes 60 times with Holy Radiance. Reward: Increase the duration of Devotion by 0.5 seconds. Passive: Damaging or healing Heroes with Holy Radiance refunds 5 Mana and reduces its cooldown by 0.75 seconds.
Refunding mana and reducing the cooldown of your main-source of heal will help you a lot with your mana management.
4
Holy Fire
Deal 13 damage per second to nearby enemies. Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes increase this damage by 20% for 3 seconds. This can stack up to 3 times.
This is a "no-brainer" talent in the sense that you just keep doing what you had been doing all along.
7
Hand of Protection
Activate to make target ally Unstoppable for 1 second. Cannot be cast on Uther. Basic Attacks reduce Hand of Protection's cooldown by 5 seconds.
As a new player to the support role you need to get as much practice with Cleanse as possible. This is why Hand of Protection is recommended here. Once you feel comfortable with cleansing heroes you should actually pick Guardian of Ancient Kings here. It fulfills a very similar role, but on a much shorter cooldown.
10
Divine Shield
Make an allied Hero Invulnerable and increase their Movement Speed by 20% for 3 seconds.
Divine Shield is the ultimate heroic to save a single person in this game. Once you have it, keep an eye out for people you can give a 2nd life with this. Although you can self-cast it, its purpose is not for you to go ham and just save yourself with your heroic. You are still playing a support and although you are "unkillable" with this ult up, it does not mean you will accomplish much by diving in with it.
13
Well Met
When used against Heroes, Hammer of Justice reduces the target's Movement Speed and damage dealt by 25% for 3 seconds.
Whenever you see an enemy melee hero wrecking havoc in your backline use this to drive them away.
16
Tyr's Deliverance
Increase the damage and healing of Holy Radiance by 10%. Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes cause Uther’s next cast of Holy Radiance to have its damage and healing increased by an additional 10%, stacking up to 4 times.
Make sure to cast Holy Radiance before you cast Holy Light to get value from this talent. Once you have some Uther games under your belt and feel comfortable you want to pick Benediction instead, which allows you to do double-healing and thus increase your burst healing ridiculously.
20
Redemption
After Eternal Devotion ends, Uther revives at the spirit's location with 50% of his maximum Health.
Remember when we said do not go ham when you get your ultimate Divine Shield? Well, not you can (to some extent). The idea behind this storm-talent is that you die first(!) in a big teamfight, especially when you should have ran out of mana. You can continue your healing in spirit form now without using mana and will revive with full mana afterwards for even more healing. This does not work, however, if you die last in the teamfight. So, do everything to keep your team alive, even if it means it kills you. Just remember that this is an Uther-thing, before you try to do the same on another support-hero ;)
