"Long ago, Regigigas is said to have pulled the continents into place, and then created the three from an icy mountain, rocks, and magma in its image. Regigigas was worshiped at one time, alongside the other three, by ancient people. Due to it being so powerful, Regigigas was sealed away in the basement of the Snowpoint Temple, while the ones it created were spirited to the far-off Hoenn region and locked away in three stone structures, which were then sealed themselves. A message was left in braille to whomever would come to discover the Sealed Chamber, whose only access was via an underwater cavern, in the hopes that one day the Pokémon could be tamed."
Hello pals! My name is Kiyeberries, and in this house we RESPECT THE LORE! If you love Pokemon Go, but maybe haven’t played a main series game since 1996 I’m here to fill you in on the amazing world of Pokemon.
The next Legendary Pokemon we will be meeting in PoGo is Regigigas, who will be first available in a Special Research task called A Colossal Discovery. Let’s talk Regis.
Regigigas is a normal type Legendary Pokémon from Gen IV. It is the trio master of the Legendary Titan Pokémon from Hoenn, which are Regice, Registeel and Regirock (the Regis). All of the Regis, including Regigigas, have seven dots for eyes that make different patterns that are similar to braille. It has six spots gemstone spots that represent the other three Regis; red gems for Regirock, blue gems for Regice, and silver gems for Registeel. It has long arms with three long white fingers, and short legs that end in large mossy bushes instead of feet. Regigigas has large yellow bands on its shoulders and wrists, with a curved yellow section on its chest that appears to be its head. Its body is covered in black stripes, and it has moss growing on its back.
Legends from the Sinnoh region talk about Regigigas's strength and skill. Beside having crafted the three Regi titans from magma ice and rock, Regigiga is said to be able to crush any target using its signature move Crush Grip, as well as having moved the continents!
Regigigas spends most of its time in deep slumber, so much so that moss grows on its feet and back. When awakened, the Pokemon is usually quite destructive.
There are only a few appearances of Regigigas in the Pokemon anime. In both Giratina and the Sky Warrior and Pillars of Friendship! Regigigas is woken up from sleep in a Temple, though it was friendly in the first one, helping the trainer Dawn and friends to stop a crumbling Glacier.
Quick, fun facts about Regigigas!
Regigigas is the tallest Normal type Pokemon standing 12’02”
Regigigas has more in common with Slaking than it does with other Legendary Pokémon. They share the same Normal type, the same base stat total of 670 (in the main series games), the same base Attack stat of 160, and Abilities that limit their power.
Regigigas and Slaking also have the highest base Attack stat of all Normal-type Pokémon.
In Pokemon Go, Regigigas will be the first Legendary Pokemon that will be released through a Special Research that was not available at an event before its global debut.
Pokedex entries for Regigigas:
“There is an enduring legend that states this Pokémon towed continents with ropes.”
“It is said to have made Pokémon that look like itself from a special ice mountain, rocks, and magma.” or “”It is believed to have shaped Regirock, Regice, and Registeel out of clay, ice, and magma.”
Are you excited to meet Regigigas in Pokemon Go? I hope so! Come back next time for more LORE about your favorite Pokemon, and more!
